Democracy Gone Astray

Democracy, being a human construct, needs to be thought of as directionality rather than an object. As such, to understand it requires not so much a description of existing structures and/or other related phenomena but a declaration of intentionality.
This blog aims at creating labeled lists of published infringements of such intentionality, of points in time where democracy strays from its intended directionality. In addition to outright infringements, this blog also collects important contemporary information and/or discussions that impact our socio-political landscape.

Bill O'Reilly Has a Thoroughly Bonkers New Conspiracy Theory About Why He Was Fired from Fox News

A resentful Bill O’Reilly has returned to national radio after being dumped by Fox News in April, and he has an ominous message.

"The entire ordeal was a hit job, and in the weeks to come, we will be able to explain some of it," the former "Factor" host told Glenn Beck in an interview Friday. "It has to do with destroying voices that the far-left and the organized left-wing cabal doesn’t like. That’s the general tone."

"I can’t get specific," he added. "There’s a lot of legality here."

O'Reilly was forced out of Fox News after 60-plus advertisers fled following revelations the network paid $13 million to settle five separate sexual harassment claims against him. The "left-wing cabal" in question appears to include Color of Change, a nonprofit civil rights group that pushed its 1.2 million members to pressure O'Reilly's advertisers.

“I’ll point you to an article seldom seen. It’s about nine corporations that are now being targeted by organized left-wing groups funded by George Soros because they allegedly are profiting from President Trump’s immigration stance," O'Reilly said, likely referencing a Washington Free Beacon article published Wednesday.

"That gives you your road map," he told Beck. "Soros is putting up big money right now."

Despite former Fox chairman Roger Ailes being ousted last June, O’Reilly believes he was "target number one," and told Beck weeks later he'd have handled things differently looking back.

"It’s sad for me. It’s sad for my family. It’s grossly dishonest," he lamented during the three-hour show. "From now on when I’m attacked, I’m going to take action. Mostly legal action.”
